Sydney Creative Art School started in 2006 (formerly known as Creative Art Studio). Since the opening of the studio, it has trained and fostered many art-loving students of all ages, which ranges from five-year-old children to elderly people in their seventies. All of them have been learning and improving for their love of art. At the same time, some students have been admitted to the University of Sydney's Department of Architecture and many other art related colleges and departments. As teachers, we are proud and gratified to contribute to the community and shoulder responsibility for parents. As an art school, our teaching objective is to cultivate students' solid foundation in painting, self-creativity, and to develop their own unique styles of expression, which is also extremely important and a goal that is to be pursued endlessly. Through various art courses, students are trained to improve their understanding of sculptures and their ability to model, as well as their ability to express themselves in their paintings. In their own sketches and creations, students will gradually reveal their own knowledge of art and integrate the basic knowledge they have learnt with their own imagination. Therefore, students will be able to form their own artistic characteristics and create their own artistic paths. This is also the spirit of the school, where everything begins with art, creating art, creating everything!
Our art school is led by Lu Dan and has a team of teachers who have graduated from major professional art colleges. Teacher Lu Dan graduated from the Central Academy of Arts and Design (now the Academy of Fine Arts, Tsinghua University) in Beijing, China. After his graduation, he worked as a teacher in the Fine Arts Department of Harbin University, teaching basic modelling, fashion painting, architectural painting, graphic composition, and other courses. During this period, Lu Dan was employed as a teacher in many art schools and has accumulated a great amount of teaching experience. In addition, he has also actively participated in several social development and construction projects. These include the design and production of large-scale wood sculptures in China’s Daqing Swan Hotel Lobby, musical fountains located in China’s Harbin Children's Palace, the undertaking of public square sculpture and several indoor and outdoor design tasks. After coming to Australia, he has continued to stay engaged in artistic activities such as painting and the teaching of art.
The courses we offer at our school include basic modelling classes, drawing, sketching, and line drawing. Colouring classes include oil painting, watercolour, gouache, and acrylic. Other courses include decorative painting, fashion painting, architectural painting, comics, sculpture, graphic composition, creative painting, handmade weaving, and ceramic design. Traditional Chinese painting courses include brush line drawing, fine brushwork, flowers and birds, ink figures, ink landscapes, calligraphy.
In addition, to facilitate parents in picking up and dropping off their children, our Rainbow Star Kids Art Centre provides overtime after-school care services. If parents are unable to arrive on time to pick up their children, our centre can provide free out of school care, regardless of the number of visits. While waiting for parents to arrive, children can read, practice calligraphy, play table tennis and basketball, draw and sketch in the garden classroom that is away from the busy city, both safe and quiet!
